November
I was beginning to worry that this month's newsletter was
never going to get finished. We're at the peak of the busy
season, and the shop has been hopping to get all of your
orders out in a timely fashion. Thank you from the bottom
of my heart for ensuring that my husband and I will be able
to meet our commitment to our oldest son's college tuition
for the winter semester!
So,
it's November!!! The corn field surrounding my house and
property has been harvested and I can see the rest of the
world again. The leaves have fallen, the trees are naked,
and the bittersweet has finally opened. Here in Indiana
we've been experiencing an unseasonably warm fall, and the
grass is still green, most of my herb garden is still green,
and the calendula and pineapple sage are still blooming.
This whole year has seen some really strange weather, and
I'm wondering what winter has in store for us.
I'm
very grateful to be approaching the holidays in much better
spirits than last year. Many of you may remember that I
expressed a little bit of depression last holiday season.
My brother in law had just been deployed to Iraq, and none
of my siblings were able to make it home from Europe for
the holidays. I'm happy to report that my brother in law
is safely finished with his tour in Iraq and that he and
my sister will be arriving in Indiana for a visit about
five weeks from now.
This
has been a year to put life in perspective. We've watched
our nation deal with war, an uncertain economy, and a political
landscape that has rattled us to our core, regardless of
affiliation. I've had the privilege of speaking to many
of you on the phone, and I've listened to similar stories
of lost jobs, tightening belts, reevaluating priorities,
and simply doing what needs to be done. It's been humbling,
making me realize that I have so much to be thankful for.
I've promised myself that I'm going to try to whine less.
As we head into the celebrations of the next few weeks,
I'd like wish you the happiest of times with your friends
and family. You all deserve a break from the hard work of
this year, and some brightness and joviality to lift your
spirits. Thank you so much for what you make possible for
myself and my family. It is truly appreciated!

Holiday
Season Turnaround, Expedited Shipping, & In-House
Rush Service
Sometimes you just need something right away. An unexpected
order arrives, and like Old Mother Hubbard, you go
to the cupboard and find IT'S BARE! Trust us -- we
know how it feels.
It
is with that sentiment that we wanted to remind customers
that while in-house turnaround time is usually 24-48
hours, there is the possibility of turnaround of up
to 72 hours at this time of year. For those times
when you really needed it YESTERDAY -- our cart offers
expedited shipping options for faster UPS shipping.
Keep in mind that expedited shipping reflects UPS
time in transit, and does not include in-house turnaround
time. All orders are shipped on a first come, first
served basis.
If faster shipping isn't going to be fast enough,
we also offer an In-House Rush service for a $10 fee.
Rush orders are placed ahead of all other orders,
and shipped at the first available opportunity. Please
note that rush orders will be shipped during normal
business hours, and the service does not include shipping
on weekends, holidays, or other closings. In-house
Rush orders should be placed with us by phone or by
adding the option to your shopping cart on the new
In-House
Rush page.
Also,
we may experience occasional out of stock items with
the heavier order volume typical of this time of year.
We will try to keep the site updated to the best of
our ability, and will attempt to communicate any order
delays to customers.

The
answer to last month's question: According to the
FDA's article Is
It a Cosmetic, a Drug, or Both? (Or Is It Soap?)
soap is exempt from cosmetic regulation if it 1)
The bulk of the nonvolatile matter in the product
consists of an alkali salt of fatty acids and the
product's detergent properties are due to the alkali-fatty
acid compounds, and 2) The product is labeled, sold, and represented solely as soap
Congratulations
to Shawna Kelly of Texas! She was the first to answer
correctly, and won 8 ounces of our Hydrolyzed
Wheat Protein.
New
question: So I'm lazy and pressed for time. I've
decided that this month's question is going to be
about silly fun, and we'll save the education for
another time. Ok, I warned you...............You
only have a match when you enter a dark and cold
room. You come across an oil lamp, an oil heater,
and a candle. Which do you light first?
Be
the first to answer correctly, and you will receive
Anything
from our site of your choice, up to a $10
value.

Until next month,
